… are you sure you’re a lawyer?

Today I had the privelege of witnessing a discussion between 2 lawyers:

S: So, if signed, is this a contract?

J: Yes it is a contract to be signed.

S: Is it a binding contract?

J: If you sign it, yes it is binding.

S: So this is a binding contract?

….

Me: *facepalm*

  1. kirui said: As someone who’s in law school…. no, you’re not missing something out of legal jargon. There’s the offer and acceptance doctrine re: creating contracts, but by the time you get to signing, your rep&yourself should’ve reviewed that contract already
